What Do I Need to Succeed...

Starting a new business requires a large investment, in time, efforts, and money.

There are key things that every new business needs:

Opening a new business

1. Know your customers - Create a Profile

Customer profile

New businesses are excited to get start selling and get sales. Therefore first, is to do a customer persona, meaning creating a profile for the ideal or typical client/customer . Even though, it sounds easily, many new business owners fail to do this correctly.

It usually includes: demographics, such as race, ethnicity, gender, age, education, profession, occupation, income level, and marital status, among others. Also purchase behavior. The more the business understand its typical customer the easier would be to target it.

It is one of the most difficult tasks for new business is to define the profile of their ideal or typical client/customer.

Once the profile is clearly stated then all marketing efforts are to be directed to outreach the people that fall under the profile.

2. Professional Website

Professional website

A website is part of what gives a business reliability regardless of its size or how long it has been in business. A none existing website or a broken one could really damage of the business

The website could be the most important marketing piece of a business. Just think about it for a second, when you give your business card, when you talk about your business, usually the first  question is: what is your business website?

Unfortunately not having a website gives a bad impression on your business, even if you recently open it.

Even before printing your business card you must have a website! You don't have to print your business cards without a website!

3. What Marketing Materials Do I Need?

What marketing materials my new business needs

When it comes to marketing materials it varies depending on your business industry, ideal customer, marketing plan, etc.

Every business should have business cards regardless of their industry, from restaurants, local shops to attorneys and doctors.

These are few recommendations:

Include on ALL the business website, a PROFESSIONAL email address

For business to business: As far as other marketing materials,  I recommend brochures and informative materials.

For business to consumers: postcards, flyers...

If your business does coupons or discounts include those in the mareking materials.

Opening a new business is overwhelming and requires a lot of efforts and investments. I hope this gives you a little guidance on this new and exciting time.
